One in six people in the United Kingdom suffers from a loss of hearing and the situation becomes even worse as we get older. So what can be done to assist those that are unable hear or see a warning of impending danger?
Simple solutions are often the best and The Lions Hearing Trust, has been instrumental in developing a relatively cheap and easy way to indicate help is required in the event of impending danger to ensure those with hearing or other disabilities are made aware of such dangers.
In conjunction with the Lions Clubs Organisation throughout the British Isles, the Lions Hearing Trust has produced brightly coloured, laminated door-hangers for use in hotels and other similar establishments.
The Lions Door Hangers do not advise hotel staff 'Do Not Disturb' or 'Please Clear, My Room', instead, when hanging on the door of a hotel room, they make it absolutely clear those guests inside need special attention in an emergency.
The Lions' Door-Hangers feature the Lions Clubs International logo and telephone number, as well as showing contact information or, MedicAlert and of course The Lions Hearing Trust.
When their stay at the hotel is over, guests will be encouraged to take the Lions' Door-Hangers with them so they may take them and use them in other hotels in the United Kingdom and around the world.
A quarter of a Million Lions’ Door Hangers have been produced, and are available at nil cost, through local Lions Clubs, to hotels and similar establishments throughout the United Kingdom. So if there are any hotels and guest houses in your part of the world and you feel they would be interested to use the Lions’ Door Hangers to help protect guests with disabilities in their establishments, please contact either John Cheetham or Brigitte Waterfield for more information.
