International Programmes

1.3 million members in 200 countries and geographic areas conduct vision and health screening, build parks, support eye hospitals, award scholarships, assist youth, provide help in time of disaster and much more.

Through Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) Lions contribute to disaster funds bringing ongoing relief to disaster hit areas worldwide and work in partnership with UNICEF, WHO and UNESCO to provide worldwide aid.

The Lions in the British Isles and Ireland are major contributors to the Lions Edukit (school in a box); programmes to address the problems of Street Children; and provision of sleeping bags and tents at short notice for immediate relief when disasters occur. Dentaiod, Water Aid and the Special Olympics are other ongoing beneficiaries of Lions support.

The Gift for Living Foundation set up by the Lions of the British Isles and Ireland in partnership with Child Advocacy International provides help and medical aid for children of the former state of Yugoslavia in particular being at the forefront of the replacement of paedriatic facilities on both sides of this war ravaged area.

Similarly the Lions of the British Isles and Ireland are helping to bring relief to those still suffering as a result of the Chernobyl disaster through support for a school in Gomel, Belarus.
