Stephen Sykes, our Music Competition winner this year, together with his accompanist Jo Sealey from the Birmingham Conservatoire, travelled to Tampere in Finland on Wednesday 16th September to take part in the finals of the European Music Competition. Despite the very tough competition Stephen came fourth behind Tobias Lang, third (Switzerland); Alon Stoler, second (Israel); the winner was Aleksey Lobikov (Russia).
Our candidate at the 2008 Europa Forumlast, Miss Sophie Rosa who played the violin and won the competition outright, has now been asked to represent Europe in the World finals in Sydney.
The instrument for the 2010 Forum in Bologna will be the classical guitar.
