Our Multiple District has been given a rare and precious opportunity to welcome to our shores the entire Board of Lions Clubs International.
After discussions with Past International Director Howard Lee, and a visit to Scotland, International Vice President Sid Scruggs has decided to hold his Autumn Board Meeting in Edinburgh in 2010, and your Council of Governors were only too happy to agree. This is indeed a high honour for us. It is a great chance for all or any Lions of our Multiple District to Meet the Board, and it is a wonderful Public Relations opportunity, and all at next to no cost to us. Indeed there is every chance of our being given a special PR grant, well in excess of any costs to us, to use in making maximum publicity for ourselves.
The International Board Meeting will take place between 28 September and 4 October 2010, and the main opportunity for us to meet the Board will be at a Host Night, expected to be on Saturday 2 October. There will be a need for a certain number of volunteers to man a welcome desk at the airport, a help desk at the hotel, and various other tasks, and full details will be circulated as they are finalised.
Past International Director Howard Lee has been asked to head the Host Team, which is already working on making this event a huge success for the Board, and for Multiple District 105. “Opportunities like this are very rare”, said PID Howard. “It is a great honour for us all to be asked to host this event. We are encouraged by Vice President Sid to make as much use of it for our own purposed as we can, so plans for widespread PR are already being made. Every Lion in MD105 has an opportunity to be involved, if they wish.”
