LIBRA Charity Film Screening at Farnham Maltings

A charity film screening of the new George Clooney film, ‘Up In The Air,’ will be held at Farnham Maltings on Tuesday 27th April. The event is being organised by LIBRA – The Lions International Blood Research Appeal to raise funds for the Cell Therapy Unit at King’s College Hospital in London, where health experts develop life saving treatments for leukaemia and other degenerative diseases.

The fundraiser will begin at 6.30pm and guests will be able to enjoy drinks in the venues newly built ‘under croft’ bar area. A buffet will be served in the Great Hall, followed by the movie which has received 6 BAFTA Award nominations. The event is already proving popular with tickets in high demand.

LIBRA Chairman and Farnham businessman, Andrew Lodge, commented: “The film night will be a memorable occasion, bringing Farnham residents together for a fantastic cause. The Maltings is a superb venue and I am delighted that we will be screening ‘Up In The Air’ in the town for the first time.

“All proceeds will go towards equipping the Cell Therapy Unit at King’s College Hospital and through the Lions we have been supporting the department for more than 30 years. The Professors are world renowned and treat patients with a variety of health issues including diabetes, cancer and liver disease. We are grateful to all those who can attend and look forward to a night of big screen entertainment.”

THE STORY . . .

From Jason Reitman, the Oscar nominated director of “Juno,” comes a dramatic comedy called “Up in the Air” starring Oscar winner George Clooney as Ryan Bingham. He stars as a corporate down sizing expert whose cherished life on the road is threatened just as he is on the cusp of reaching ten million frequent flyer miles. But his goal isn’t the only thing just out of reach: he now won’t be able to see a fellow frequent traveller (Vera Farmiga) who has caught his eye.
