Nine teams from across Kent and surrounding areas battled it out on a Go-Kart track in Sittingbourne recently, as they took part in a LIBRA Grand Prix, organised by Gillingham Lions. On 5th April, the participants went head-to-head in the challenge and managed to raise around £1,000 for the appeal.

Each team was made up of four contestants and they raced around the Bayford Meadows Kart circuit, Symmonds Drive, on the Eurolink Industrial Estate. The event began with a practice session for all, followed by the official race at 10.45am. This was followed by an awards ceremony at the circuit. The winning team, Whitstable Lions, received a trophy for their efforts. Crawley Lions came in 2nd, with Thanet Lions in 3rd. These runners up were also given prizes.
Chris Iles, event organiser and a Lions District Officer for the South East, commented: “This was a great fundraising event and we will do it again. We are waiting to receive all sponsorship money and expect to have raised about £1,000. We are particularly grateful to Bayford Meadows for donating £225 to our cause.”
