My fellow Lions,
Firstly, on behalf of the 200 orphans at Babichi, may I say a huge “THANK YOU” to all those clubs who have so far contributed to the Babichi Orphanage Appeal, to replace their 40-year-old flat roof. For further details of the Appeal, please see my letter of July 2009, which can be found at:-www.lionsmd105.org/NewsEvents/MediaReleases/Babichi_Orphanage_Appeal.htm
I am delighted to report that the work on the roof has started. So we have already made a significant improvement to the lives and health of the orphans. When it is complete, we will have provided a dry, safe environment for those 200 children, and their successors, for at least the next 20 years.
As previously reported, their current living conditions are appalling, with the roof leaking like a sieve, and water running down the walls. There is serious water damage apparent in virtually every room in the building, and the children constantly suffer from coughs, colds, flu, etc., and sometimes worse. We cannot let them down!
We are over half way towards our target of £75,000. However, we do need to “keep those contributions coming” in order to complete the job before the winter really sets in. If your Club has not yet contributed, or if you feel you could do a bit more, we should be delighted to hear from you.
Please dig deep, so that we can get this vital work done as quickly as possible. Please send cheques, made payable to “Lions Belarus Trust” to the address given below. If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards

Lion Howard Lee
