Lions Club regrets the closure of Holiday Village

Seaton & District Lions Club, together with many others, will be especially sad when Lyme Bay Holiday Village finally closes its doors at the end of this year.

After 12 years the closure of the villagewill bring an end to along association between the Lions and the Holiday village and also bring a closure to a major successful fund raising project whichhasraised an estimated £120,000 for local charities.

Around 12 years ago members of the Seaton and District Lions Club approached the management of the holiday village with a proposal to hold a weekly raffle to support local charities. The Holiday Village suggested an existing Lions Charity, Children’s Hospice West, and the Lions suggested local children’s good causes.

Thus started a long and successful partnership of funding for these two charities. Six years ago, the raffles were increased to twice a week on Monday and Friday evenings.

At the recent final presentation ceremony Lion President Rosemary Partridge-Hogbin presented Mr Eddie Farwell, the visionary and instigator of the Children’s Hospice project, with a cheque for a further £4000 on behalf of the Hospice. Manager Andrew Roberts and Entertainment Manager Scot Paige of the Lyme Bay Holiday Camp were thanked for their generosity, good will and support over the years and a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to each of them.
