Lord Mayor's Show
Lions Clubs brought Christmas early to London this year with 50 Father Christmas’s skillfully supervised by Roary.
Saturday 8th November dawned as a rather drab cloudy day as the City of London prepared for the 793rd Lord Mayor’s Show, historically established to “show” the new Lord Mayor to the citizens of London and for him to swear allegiance to the Crown. This year’s procession was one of the largest in its long history with over 6,100 people, including 2000 military personnel, 13 marching bands, 220 vehicles and 71 decorated floats representing the City’s Worshipful Companies and many charities, overseas representatives, community groups, and organisations. Amongst them, for the seventh successive year, our Lions entry provided by over 50 members of Districts 105A, 105D, 105EA and 105SE. When the City turns out with over half a million spectators on the street, to welcome the new Lord Mayor, it does so in style from the Mansion House to the Royal Courts of Justice and back to the Mansion House. So it was, at 11.00am and in spite of this year’s poor weather conditions, which certainly did not deter the public audience, your Lions Clubs group set off on the over three mile journey.
