Supporting victims of fire
Lions Clubs representativesfrom all over Lincolnshire, together with Lions District GovernorLion Derek Blow recently attended the Headquarters of Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Services in Lincoln. The event was to present a second Fire Victim Support Vehicle to Lincolnshire Red Cross.
The need for a second Fire Victim Support Vehicle in Lincolnshire came to the attention of Coningsby & Tattershall Lions who enthusiastically set about raising the £28,000 required.Word about the project spread around the local clubs, and Skegness was soon to become equally enthusiastic and the project was then adopted as a Zone Project covering predominantly the eastern area of Lincolnshire. Other Lions clubs in Lincolnshire were approached and ultimately the Lions clubs of Spalding, Mablethorpe, Sutton and District, Horncastle, Woodhall Spa, Skegness, Coningsby and Tattershall, Louth, Brigg, Boston, Sleaford, Spilsby, Lincoln and Glanford and Lindsey provided donations.
The money raised was further increased with a P&O cruise organised by PDG Lion Stefan Erentraut and money raised by the Red Cross themselves. The donations and pledges soon totalled the £14,000 required for an application for a matching grant from LCIF and this was successfully applied for to provide the necessary £28,000 required. The vehicle will display the Lions logo as it travels all over Lincolnshire for many years. It will also be used by the Red Cross Volunteers.
