Opening of stem cell research laboratory at the Burden Institute at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol.
The December 2007 monthly District 105W News Update reported that Margaret, wife of Past District Governor Lion Adrian, had presented her cheque for £8,500 to Professor Neil Scolding for the new MS Research and Patient Centre at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol to carry out the first human stem cell trials in the world. The money was raised following the launch of the 2006/2007 District Governor's wife appeal through the partners, Lion members, Clubs and friends within District 105W and beyond.
On 3rd December, Margaret and Lion Adrian attended the Burden Institute at Frenchay Hospital as guests of Professor Scolding for the official opening of the new stem cell research laboratories by Bristol based writer, Jill Mansell. All the contributing organisations are permanently acknowledged on a wall mounted plaque including, 'Lions Clubs International'.
