Through our youth programmes we are all dedicated to providing challenges and opportunities for youngsters that they would not otherwise enjoy. One such opportunity is the Lions Youth Football Competition.
Any “Under 14” boys team playing in its local league, and affiliated to its County FA, can represent its local Lions Club in this knock-out competition.
Initial games are drawn on a regional basis so as to reduce travelling time and costs, moving farther a field as the rounds progress.
By organising early rounds on a regional basis each District has its own District Cup with eventually the Multiple District semi-finals and Final being staged at prestigious professional stadiums.
In the past we have played at the City Ground, Nottingham Forest,Walsall, Ipswich Town, Port Vale, Telford United & Burton Albion.
The Competition is sanctioned each year by the English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish Football Associations and by UEFA.
Every Lions Club competing this year (2008-09) were given Lions’ MD PR leaflets to distribute to players’ families & Football Club management & supporters. This is a great opportunity for your Club to get PR &, potentially, new members.
