It was a very close hard fought game with the Redbridge Utd goalkeeper showing why they had conceded only 1 goal on the way to the final. Redbridge probably had the better of the first half with the tall Pannal Ash goal keeper also playing very well, but having said that Pannal Ash did hit the cross bar towards the end of that half. In the 2nd half Pannal Ash, who also defended very well, showed more attacking flair keeping the Redbridge keeper the busier of the two. Eventually a goal came when the goalkeeper pushed out a shot only to see the ball fall to a Pannal Ash striker who made no mistake slotting home.

Each team brought a full coach of supporters plus others who came by car. The game was also watched by Lions from Grantham & elsewhere in District E, from both supporting Clubs, including DG Cyril Goodridge from C & PDG Ken Rouse from A & more than half of the MD Football committee.

The MD Youth Football Committee thank Grantham Lions secretary, Paul Whitworth, who kindly ensured the ground was ready for us & also organised the attendance of the local St. John Ambulance.

As Chairman of that committee I sincerely thank all District Officers for all their dedication & help throughout the season. Especially "on the day" I thank Lions John Battersby who provided the PA system & displayed the Lions banners to good effect & together with Dave Clark found that ground as well as working tirelessly to organise the Northern semi-final; Carl Kings for organising the presentation medals; Les Fuller for generously printing the souvenir programmes.
